Who Is CeeLo Green?
CeeLo Green is a singer-songwriter and rapper who began his career as a member of the underrated Atlanta rap band Goodie Mob and guested on several classic OutKast tracks. He went on to much greater success both as a solo artist and as the frontman of the duo Gnarls Barkley — a collaboration with producer Danger Mouse. He later became a coach on several seasons of The Voice.

Green is known for his work in soul music , including the hit singles " Crazy " and " Fuck You ". With Gnarls Barkley, Green released two albums: 's platinum-selling St. Elsewhere and 's The Odd Couple. In , Green continued his solo career with the album The Lady Killer , which spawned his biggest solo hit, " Fuck You ". The song peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot , and reached the top 10 in thirteen countries. From to , Green was a judge and coach on the American reality television singing competition The Voice , appearing on four of its seasons. Green was born in Atlanta, Georgia.
As an adolescent, he engaged in gang activity and committed petty theft, and, after dropping out of school in the ninth grade, he was sent to a military academy, where he eventually earned a GED. Having early displayed an affinity for music—he sang in his church and played the piano at home—by his late teenage years he sought to pursue it as a career. In Callaway, along with three friends, formed the hip-hop act Goodie Mob. Three years later the group appeared on the first album by fellow Atlanta rappers OutKast , and their own debut, Soul Food , soon followed. With its optimistic attitude and its incorporation of live instrumentation infused with the sounds of classic soul and funk music , Soul Food became a touchstone for an emerging subgenre of hip-hop based in the South. Callaway, who rapped and sang under the pseudonym Cee-Lo or Cee Lo, later CeeLo , earned particular praise for his spirited high-pitched delivery. Goodie Mob later recorded Still Standing , which won further acclaim, as well as other collaborations with OutKast. World Party was considered an artistic and commercial disappointment, however, and Cee-Lo subsequently left the group. After winning two Grammy Awards , the collaborators, who played up their eccentric image by frequently performing in extravagant costumes, returned with The Odd Couple
